In our collective works, we find the life force of nature to be a common thread. Our artistic activities are attempts to notice and clarify these energies. The artwork becomes an arena in which to contemplate relationships, things both large and small, and their place within the world. Calmness, silence, stillness, simplicity, harmony, perseverance, hardiness, and rootedness are focuses which arise within the rich, vibrant medium of glass. The images are reminders or messages to ourselves and the viewer, they are modes of meditation to open a sense of wonder, to nurture the spirit, to reassess how one may see things. They become celebrations of the serene, the tinting of moments discovered in the vital subtleties of everyday.

JOAN COBB-BEAUMONT
BIOGRAPHY
Born in Ontario, Joan Cobb-Beaumont studied glass working at Sheridan College School of Craft and Design. Following her graduation from this program in 1979, she settled in Alberta. Joan has gained valuable experience through the restoration and creation of commissioned works while employed at three of the major glass studios in Calgary: Avanti Art and Glass Co., Glass Effects and the Rubaiyat. Currently, she creates unique pieces of glass from her home-based studio in Calgary, applying various techniques, including leading, copperfoiling, sandblasting and fusing. Her works have been displayed and sold at shows and galleries in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario, and are found in private collections throughout Canada, England, Australia and New Zealand.
